Creating a Project Management Plan

A checklist to help you create a project management plan.

Creating A Project Management Plan
1
Get Input From Coworkers
2
__Find out whom you will need to work on the project.
3
__Determine from whom you need to get information.
4
__Make sure those people are available. Find out if anyone has worked on a project similar to this and meet with them to get ideas.
5
__Ask about successes and failures among these past projects so you can learn from them.
6
Establish a Game Plan
7
__When establishing a game plan, determine who will report to whom while working on the project. Also, determine during this step if personnel will need any additional training to complete the project.
8
__Once you have established your game plan, review it with the team that will be working on the project. Revise the plan for a final version based on feedback the team provides.
9
Determine Your Budget
10
__Before starting the project, determine the cost and how it will be funded. Anticipate possible cost overruns and where additional funding will come from.
11
Create a Timeline
12
__Locate pieces of the project that can be worked on at the same time. Identify portions of the project that require another portion to be completed first before it can be started.
13
__Write out a timeline to anticipate when each portion will be worked on so you can plan to have the supplies and personnel in place when you need them.
14
Plan Your Quality Checks
15
__Build checkpoints into the plan. Choose times for the quality to be monitored for the need to either repair a physical product or change a procedure that might not be working.
