Our checklists and checklist templates are licensed for personal use only. However, to avoid a bunch of emails, I will also say that I am okay with you doing almost anything with these checklists except posting the checklist (or anything you have created using the checklist template) on the internet or selling it. That includes permission to print and distribute as many paper copies of your checklist as you need. Don't remove the copyright or hyperlinks that I've included in the spreadsheet, though.

I always look for the blog. 🙂 On Guitar Tricks, it is pretty much buried down in the footer. What this shows me is that their entire site is pretty much designed to become part of the membership. Their blog goes under the “News” section of the membership. It is open to the public. I can see the point of this, though, because essentially the entire site is gated. Unless a person finds them on search, by the time a person finds the blog, they’re an email subscriber and have the free membership.
I find it clear and concise but some of the steps are not instinctive for newbies like myself so I'm stuck searching and learning and sometimes wasting time for little details that I'm sure are just mishaps or a lack of experience on my part regarding terminology… I hope I'm not offending anyone, I love the list but now I'm a little lost as to where I find my answers. I was suppose to launch 5 days ago and I really need this.
Now that you’ve created your site and have taken into account the feedback of your first set of members, it’s time to start promoting to a wider audience. Don’t worry about making everything perfect at the outset. As the old saying goes, done is better than perfect, and the sooner you launch your membership site, the sooner you’ll find out if it’s what your target audience wants. It’s fine to return to this step later and work on making your membership website look more professional once you've got some traction.

One of the big things about Insider is how much teaser content there is. Being that they have the membership and the public site all integrated together, you constantly SEE what members are getting but you run into the paywall if you’re not a member. This is the kind of setup you can ONLY have if your blog and your membership site are one and the same.
Realize a couple of key facts: A) the prices for e-commerce software have fallen, so you don’t need to spend a fortune unless your needs are complicated, and B) many of today’s e-commerce packages include a full range of tools in one package, from an inventory management system to marketing tools. Many of today’s merchants prefer this “all-in-one” approach because it makes life simpler.
Memberful is an easy to use, fast, reliable and modern membership site platform for WordPress users. It’s the same membership platform that experienced writers and bloggers like Leo Babauta use to serve his thousands of customers. Paul Jarvis, another creative mind, is also a proud user of Memberful. He encourages anyone who likes simplicity to use Memberful to power their sites. Both users are writers and sell content like online courses. This makes it a very appealing membership platform for those who wish to do the same. File downloads, coupon codes, physical items, analytics integration are just a few of the most popular features that this software offers.

Checklist 14: Outsourcing Your Membership Site From Start To Finish : Believe it or not, but membership sites can be outsourced from start to finish. We’ve been there, done that and got the t-shirt. And if that’s something you would consider to do, in this checklist we reveal the exact steps we take to completely outsource one of our membership sites and still rake in the profits.
Your business plan lays it all out. It details what you sell and where your profit comes from; how much inventory you’ll have on hand and where you’ll store it. It lays out your return policy — and you’ll need one of those. Most important, your business plan details your total start-up cost, from your ad campaign to Web designer to monthly server fees.
Of course, you will ‘sell’ this offer with professional sales copy, some great headlines, and maybe even some bullet points. But the general idea here is to introduce yourself to this new cold traffic visitor, let them know what you are about, let them know that you can help them, and convince them that the first step to solving their problem is to opt-in to your free offer.

A Web analytics program tells you how shoppers are using your site. It reveals where users come from, what pages they visit and what keyword searches brought them to the site. An analytics package enables merchants to calculate their conversion rate. (Your “conversion rate” is the percentage of your visitors who make a purchase — a critical fact to know and track over time.)

Again, unless your research makes it clear that your audience is ready and waiting to join your program, don’t produce your entire membership program just yet. Starting small and creating just enough top-quality content to keep charter members happy, then seeking their feedback before moving on to the next stage of production will help save you both time and effort in the long run.
