From my development work with hundreds of managers and executives in leadership programs in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, from research interviews with many managers in the United States and abroad, and from witnessing managers facing a range of critical moments, I have concluded that their thinking and experience tend to point to a core of just 15 mission-critical leadership principles that vary surprisingly little among companies or countries.
There are chances that your lead might want to get out of the buying process at this stage as well. It is easy to recognize the pattern when this happens. Here either your lead will completely avoid your calls or mails or he will not push your pitch to the person who will take the buying decision. If this occurs, then drop the lead and don’t go any further.
Here’s the thing about checklists–they change all the time. One day’s tasks will differ from the next day’s. One holiday’s packing list will differ from the next. But that doesn’t mean that you’ll need to design from scratch over and over again. Once you’ve perfect one design to suit your style exactly, you can use it as a template for future checklists.
Our checklists and checklist templates are licensed for personal use only. However, to avoid a bunch of emails, I will also say that I am okay with you doing almost anything with these checklists except posting the checklist (or anything you have created using the checklist template) on the internet or selling it. That includes permission to print and distribute as many paper copies of your checklist as you need. Don't remove the copyright or hyperlinks that I've included in the spreadsheet, though.
In response, some people choose terribly cumbersome names. They find out that “Tshirt.com” is taken and then learn that “HockeyTshirt.com” is also taken. So they create an unworkable domain name like VeryCool-HockeyTshirt.com. Not only is it too long, it contains a hyphen, which should be avoided (some users forget to put them in, sending them to your competitor’s site.)
Less than 5% of all purely online businesses (i.e. business that have no traditional, physical counterpart) ever actually make any money. It's hard to draw a decent living from the Internet, but because it is easy to setup, the allure is great enough to keep people trying. If you are to be successful it is imperative that you avoid the mistake of not being disciplined in your approach.
